Today we did a very boring out and back 2 miler on Route 117.
Largely, the sidewalks are covered in about three inches of sand/packed ice. The shoulders of the road are wide enough so that when there's no oncoming traffic you can get out past the sand, but we were out during morning drive time, so I guess we got a bit of a beach run-style workout too.
Hopefully the roads are cleaned up at the first sign of spring!

Coventry Bike Path to Walker Farm Route - 3.5 Miles
This is one of our great standby routes. The scenery is varied and the hill about halfway through provides a good challenge. Route 117 is not too exciting but there are sidewalks and wide shoulders on either side of the road.
Start at the parking lot for the Coventry Greenway (bike path) on Route 117. (It's the same parking lot as Father & Sons restaurant... formerly Perks, or Dave's Perks.) Head to the back and hop on the bike path. Head out to the right.
Stay on the bike path until you hit the town's recycling center/animal control/bus parking, and take a right into the driveway to pass by all of the above plus the town hall and library. Continue onto Route 117 and head left for a short while before turning right onto Walker Lane.
Head up Walker Lane to the top of the hill. At the stop sign, turn right. Follow to the next left and loop around Cobblestone Terrace. (You'll get back to the stop sign at the intersection with Walker Lane.)
Stay on Cobblestone Terrace until its end at Leuba Road. Take a right onto Leuba and follow to its end at Route 117. Take a left onto Route 117 and follow back to the Greenway parking lot.

Welcome to Run Rhody!
We're two runners who moved to Rhode Island just over two years ago and have spent the last two years largely running out and backs, neighborhood routes and the bike trail by our house. This got to be pretty boring this fall when we completed our first half marathon.
While we know that there are probably plenty of great runs out there, we haven't found them yet.
So we decided to start this site as a place to discover some new routes, new races, and most of all, new people to run or hang out with. We hope this is a site where people can meet other runners, plan group runs, and share their favorite routes and favorite races with other Rhode Islanders.
Hope you'll join us!
